Water quality: 20-28°C, pH 7.5-8.5. Salinity should be kept between 1.008-1.015 for optimum health.

Compatability: A specialist community fish which can be kept with the likes of mollys, mono sea angels, and many other species of community fish.

Diet: Flake, slow sinking pellets/granules can be given, but frozen foods such as Spirulina-enriched brineshrimp, mosquito larvae, Mysis shrimp, krill, prawns (chopped for smaller specimens) etc are preferred.

Also known as argus fish and spotted scats, scats are one of the most popular species of brackish water aquarium fish. They are characterized by their square shaped and compressed bodies. The scat’s dorsal fins are composed of hard rays which are mildly poisonous.
