Hillstream Loach

2-3cm Hillstream Loach.
Latin Name: Homaloptera smithi.

Water Quality: Will require a water temperature of 21°C - 25°C with a water pH between 6.4 - 7.5.

Compatability: Keep with six or more of the same species as when kept in smaller groups it may be less bold. Not agressive although harmless squabbles may occur when kept with other Loach species.

Diet: Hillstream Loach are specialised micropredetors feeding on small crustaceans, insect larvae and other invertebrates. Some sinking dried foods will be accepted but will require regular meals of live or frozen daphnia, artemia and bloodworm for the maintainence of good health.

An obligate dweller of swiftly flowing streams and headwaters containing clear, oxygen saturated water.
